When Mediation Does Not Work?

Mediation is considered successful if it can come to an agreement on all the issues or if it can narrow the scope of the issues at hand. Usually at least some of that can happen given enough time with the right mediator. But what about when mediation does not work? When emotions are still high shortly after a large blow out mediation may be difficult because neither party has had the time required to process their emotions. An astute mediator will discover this during intake or during the earlier phases of a mediation session and will schedule the next session ensuring some time has passed
