Who Regulates Mediation?

Mediation and Mediators in Ontario are not regulated by legislation. However, the three professional organizations ADRIO, OAFM and FDRIO regulate their members practice of mediation. They do this by members to abide by mediator codes of conduct. The Ontario Association of Family Mediators (OAFM) and Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario (FDRIO) set standards and codes of practice for family mediators. The Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario (ADRIO) promotes a code of ethics and a code of conduct for mediators from a wide variety of practice areas.
